Document original factory put-up versus current remaining footage for full and partial reels.
Checkable specification fields
These are examples from the named references, not assertions about a reel you have not shown us. Match the actual jacket, tag and part number before using a product claim.
| Field | Documented example / boundary | Source |
|---|---|---|
| Factory lengths | Southwire says standard reels may have manufacturing tolerances and nonstandard lengths/reels may also exist. | [1] |
| Original tag fields | Southwire lists product description, footage, gross/tare/net weights, maker, stock number and manufacture date. | [1] |
| Different put-ups | Belden 9262 lists both 100-ft and 1,000-ft reel variants for one product family. | [2] |
| Certification caution | UL places the complete Listing Mark on a reel tag or smallest container for a claimed Listed cable. | [3] |
Make two length columns
Write down the original factory put-up from the label and the current remaining length separately. The latter should state its basis—sequential marks, measurement, scale-supported estimate or seller estimate—and date. If the number is unknown, leaving it unknown is better than repeating an original 1,000-ft label.
- Photograph the tag and any readable start/end sequence numbers.
- State whether the reel is sealed, opened, cut back or made of remnants.
- Disclose visibly damaged cable, open ends, bent flanges and unknown storage.
Create one record per meaningful variant
A mixed pile of reels with different type strings, sizes, lengths or condition should not receive a single blanket “full reel” description. A one-line-per-reel list lets a buyer compare what is actually on hand without implying availability, acceptance or a fixed freight arrangement.
- Keep manufacturer/part, conductor count, AWG/kcmil and length basis on each line.
- Use the existing quote checklist and photos to request a product-focused review.
Source notes and scope
The linked references support the specific examples above. Product designs and standards can change; seller-supplied markings, measured length and current condition require separate verification. Nothing here states that this buyer stocks, tests, guarantees or accepts a particular cable, or offers installation advice.
